Hanneke BENADÉ

Hanneke Benadé calmly observes the faces and bodies of the people who surround her. She takes inspiration from them and draws them carefully and meticulously; full lips, hair pulled, downcast eyes, furrowed eyebrows…

The South African artist has a special interest in the gestures associated with hairstyles, clothes, for the emotions that emerge with brightness and vigor in each of his paintings.

Hanneke Benadé came to create the works Gown and Embellish during her stay at the Atelier Le Grand Village, composed of ten and eleven layers of color respectively, capable of cleverly deceiving our eye, which cannot detect the lithographic process here.

Hanneke’s application of the materials gives an almost powdery appearance, like the one you get with chalk pastels.

At the origin of a meeting...

Hanneke Benadé reflects with calmness and serenity the world that surrounds her. The feminine portraits seem calm yet with an attentive gaze her work suddenly reveals tension.

I love his work because it combines softness and serenity with mathematical precision
